Shaving Brush Sizing Guide

Brush sizing continues to be a challenge for me, so I created this free printable brush sizing gauge and table so anyone can size their brush at home!

The absolute simplest method is if you have a set of calipers, use them they'll be the most accurate - just be sure to size up 1-2 mm to allow wiggle room for your brush to fit.

At Home Sizing No Printer Required:

Materials:

  • String or paper
  • A pen, marker or pencil
  • Scissors
  • Ruler or measuring tape

Instructions:

1. Cut out a strip of paper or find a piece of string at least 5 inches long
2. Wrap the string or paper loosely around your brush where you would like it
to mount in the brush stand
3. Mark the string or paper where it overlaps the end of itself
4. Measure the distance from the end of the string/paper to your mark (be sure
to measure from the correct end
5. Compare your circumference measurement to the diameter chart below– pick the
next largest diameter to ensure fit
